Priorities

INSTRUCTIONAL PRIORITIES FOR 26-27

  1. Instruction: The implementation of engaging, rigorous, student centered instructional practices that encourage productive struggle and student agency through listening, speaking, reading, and writing in all content areas while providing access to grade level, standards aligned tasks for ALL students, specifically students with disabilities and English Language Learners.
  2. Social Emotional Learning: Fostering an environment that encourages kindness and empathy towards others and teaches all PS 48 stakeholders (students, staff, families, and community members) to use their voice to proactively solve problems and be motivated to excel socially and academically in order to support the whole child and promote student agency.
  3. Collaborative Teams: Strengthen the voices of teachers, paraprofessionals, staff, students, and families to ensure collective decision making and agency with the best interests of students in mind, build leadership capacity, and continue to learn from one another across multiple teams to foster positive relationships.
  4. Family Engagement: Continue developing a school culture that welcomes and embraces all cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and languages so that ALL families have a voice and are encouraged to express their wants and needs while partnering with staff and students to be an active part of schoolwide decision making and supporting their child’s academic and social emotional success.
